The bottom line is that s<strong>tress costs time and money in productivity<\/strong>. \u00a0 Investing in your employees social wellbeing will not increase loyalty but will provide a return on investment through increased engagement and performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>So what can employers do to help?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomsons.com\/resources\/blog-posts\/the-rise-of-social-wellbeing-and-how-employers-can-support-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jack Curzon\u2019s blog<\/a> makes a number of suggestions as to how to increase social connectedness at work, such as team lunches, bring your pet to work days and frequent success celebration and sharing.\u00a0 We would definitely encourage employers to find new ways to allow employees to connect with colleagues &#8211; perhaps setting up a<a href=\"https:\/\/social-circle-wellbeing.co.uk\/blog\/2019\/10\/29\/3-reasons-why-social-committees-are-awesome\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> social committee<\/a> would be useful?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>However, what about outside of work?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your employees may well be motivated by a team lunch or drinks after work.\u00a0 However, this does not help them overcome crippling loneliness outside the workplace or help them build their confidence by trying new activities.\u00a0 <strong>With employees facing anxiety over their social connectedness<\/strong>, employers must help with the human interaction so many are seeking &#8211; both inside and outside the workplace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a diverse workplace, it can be a challenge to offer activities outside of work that satisfy a range of interests.\u00a0 Simply offering an allowance does not encourage employees to find like minded people or try new activities &#8211; the building blocks of increased self-worth and confidence.\u00a0 Instead we recommend offering employees a social wellbeing benefit which makes it easy to connect with professionals with similar interests and allows them complete freedom to choose from a range of social activities &#8211;
